Expeditions and travel
Sending troops to raid camps or gather resources, how long it takes, what it costs and what comes back.
An expedition sends troops from your keep to a target and brings the survivors and loot home.
Mission types
| Mission | What happens |
|---|---|
| Raid | Fight the defenders of a camp or lair. Win to take its rewards. |
| Gather | Send units to a grove or outcrop to haul timber or stone home. No fight. |
See Lairs and monsters for the targets.
Sending one
- Tap a target, then Send expedition.
- Pick troops. The screen shows your army limit per role. A level 1 Keep lets you send 20 infantry and 10 ranged; higher Keep levels, the Barracks (infantry) and the Archery Yard (ranged) raise it, and the Rally Hall (how many expeditions at once) is still to come. Each unit shows "x of y owned can march", and the + and Max buttons stop at the limit. Troops you own beyond the limit simply stay home. If the server refuses a send it says whether you are over the limit or short of units.
- A preview shows travel time, food cost and estimated arrival. Check it, then confirm.
Travel time
Travel time is the distance divided by the speed of your slowest unit, with a minimum of 10 seconds. Militia and archers both move at 300 tiles per hour. Arrival times are set by the server.
Cost
The food upkeep for the round trip is paid when you send the expedition.
Carrying loot
Your units can only carry so much. Each unit has a carry value, and rewards are reduced if they exceed what your survivors can carry. Send more units for a big haul.
Troops while away
Troops on an expedition are reserved: they are not at home, and cannot be sent twice. Survivors are added back to your garrison when they return.
