Outposts

Claim tiles across the map for steady coin and bonus resources, defended by a garrison.

What is an outpost?

An outpost is a small holding you place on a free tile of the map. It produces coin plus a random bonus resource, can hold a garrison of your troops, has a name you choose, and shows who owns it. You can own up to 10.

Placing one

A tile is eligible when it is:

  • inside a chunk that has opened, and discovered or visible to you;
  • free: no city, outpost, lair or resource site on it;
  • not water or mountain;
  • within 40 tiles of your own keep or another of your outposts;
  • at least 3 tiles from any other city or outpost.

Otherwise the game explains why (limit reached, tile occupied, tile not eligible, or target not visible).

Cost escalation

Each outpost costs more than the last: the base cost is multiplied by 1.35 for every outpost you already own. Building takes 600 seconds and yields nothing until it is finished. You can use Cedar Marks to speed it up.

Names

You name your outpost when you place it (default: "Velmoran Outpost 1" or "Torvayne Outpost 1"). Names are 3 to 24 characters and go through the same checks as gamer tags, see Names and community rules. You can rename an outpost once per 24 hours.

Owner tag

Every outpost shows its owner's gamer tag and a short player code. Your email and internal account ids are never shown.

Yield, bonus resources and collecting

  • Coin: 40 per hour, plus 5 per outpost level.
  • Each hour one bonus resource may roll from this table, always the same on a retry:
Bonus resourceChance each hourAmount when it rolls
Food40%15 to 30
Timber35%15 to 30
Stone25%10 to 25
  • An outpost stores up to 24 hours of yield and then stops filling, so collect regularly.
  • Collect moves the stored resources to your keep. It happens exactly once and is limited by your storage cap.

Garrison

You can assign militia and archers to an outpost. Garrisoned troops leave your keep's pool until you withdraw them. A level 1 outpost holds up to 60 troops, and a full garrison gives up to +25% yield. Others only see a size band (empty, light, medium, heavy), never exact numbers.

Abandoning

You can abandon an outpost to free a slot. There is no refund.
