The Inquisition

A mysterious enemy faction of powerful inquisitors and ghouls, found at frontier outposts.

Last updated 1 November 2026

The Inquisition is a secretive order that commands ghouls from fortified outposts. Its inquisitors are heavily armored and strike through armor. The faction is hostile to both the Velmoran Crown and the Torvayne Compact.

They do not attack on their own. Inquisition forces stay at their outposts and fight only when a player attacks them.

Finding an outpost

Inquisition outposts appear in opened world chunks at least 150 tiles from the world centre. They are seeded across the map; scouting and exploration reveal their locations. The map uses the Inquisition crest and outpost marker so they are distinct from neutral camps and Hollow Host lairs.

Outposts have five strengths, from Low through Dire. Their strength is fixed by distance from the world centre: nearby outposts are approachable, while the outer frontier can hold Severe and Dire forces. This is a map-wide progression, not a rubber band based on your army. Scout before sending troops; even a nearby outpost can cost units, and frontier sites demand a substantial force.

Rewards and recovery

Winning a raid returns food, timber, stone and coin with the troops. Rewards rise sharply at frontier outposts to make the greater losses worthwhile. The first successful raid that clears an outpost during its shared recovery window also earns 1–5 Cedar Marks. NPC raids do not earn Marks. A cleared outpost recovers after three hours; only one successful raid is paid during that recovery window.
